In September it was Prinsjesdag again, a Dutch tradition that goes back to 1814. On this day – the third Tuesday in September – the King presents the government´s plans for the new year and beyond.
From the tax plan 2025, we have selected a few topics that deserve your attention. The expat tax break or 30 percent rule will be tightened, but less quickly than expected. Vacation rentals will be subject to stricter rules, and self-employed individuals in the Netherlands will pay slightly more taxes. Dividends in Box 2 will be taxed slightly less, and a third tax bracket will be introduced. Also, on Prinsjesdag, the State Secretary sent a letter to the House of Representatives about the new Box 3 system (property tax).
